The history and meaning of the bracelets
Wearing jewelry has been part of human nature since ancient times and has had its meaning for thousands of years.
In addition to rings, necklaces and earrings , bracelets and bangles were also very popular. Early bracelets were made from branches, twigs or grass. Later they were made from metals such as copper or bronze.
Bracelets were considered a symbol of prosperity and wealth and the more decorated and ornate they were, the higher the status of the wearer.
The history of bracelets
In ancient Egypt, bracelets were used more as a decorative and ornamental element. Usually made of gold or silver and richly decorated with semi-precious stones.
Among the Greeks, wide bracelets were worn by soldiers as protection or as decoration on the forearms and upper arms.
The Romans loved snake-like and coiled bangles and bracelets as an expression of their style.
In the Middle Ages, the custom of adornment largely disappeared and the wearing of bracelets was also considered taboo.
It was only in the Baroque period (17th century) that women began to adorn themselves more and the bracelet regained importance.
What was previously reserved for the wealthier people was accessible to everyone from the 20th century onwards. Thanks to mass production, jewellery became much more affordable and varied. Bracelets were made and worn from every imaginable material.
Bracelets are always a great accessory
Even today, women and men still like to wear bracelets. These bracelets are available in a wide variety of materials, colors and shapes.
Bracelets are always made of flexible materials such as cords, ribbons, chain links and therefore enclose your wrist in a very flexible way.
The Greek word “brachile” (of the arm) gives the name to the bracelet.
My leaf bracelets are made from real leaves and are made of silver or bronze. Each of these leaves is a unique, handmade piece and is attached to different cotton ribbons or metal chains.
You wear it close to your wrist so that it doesn't slip and stays nicely on top of the back of your hand.
The bracelets are very light and comfortable to wear and also match beautifully with the other leaf jewelry pieces.
