Cleaning earrings: The best tips for care!
Depending on how often you wear them, your studs or dangling earrings will also need to be cared for from time to time, and it doesn't really matter what material they are made of. Whether they are made of silver, gold, bronze or other materials, you should clean them every now and then.
Earrings: The best tips for care
But before it gets to that point, there are a few things you can do to ensure you only have to clean it very rarely. I don't know about you, but I'm not a big fan of cleaning, I prefer to wear my jewelry.
It is best to store the earrings carefully when you are not wearing them. Never leave them lying open in the bathroom or another damp room, as this will usually cause the jewelry to tarnish.
It is best to always put your studs or dangle earrings in your jewelry box or jewelry box. People often also keep the small jewelry boxes that were given to them when they were bought. This is also a good way to store them.
If you don't have any of these things, a small plastic bag works great for storage, as it prevents the oxygen in the air from causing your jewelry to oxidize.
It is also important to apply creams, perfumes and other cosmetics first and allow them to absorb well before putting on the earrings. This is because these decorative or nourishing substances can contain substances that can damage your jewelry and lead to discoloration or stains.
Especially with surface structures on jewelry, such as my leaf jewelry, creams etc. can leave very unsightly marks.
I also always recommend taking your earrings off when exercising, swimming, and especially in the sauna or steam room. Sweat, chlorine or salt water can cause your earrings to lose their beautiful shimmer over time.
In short, the more carefully and lovingly you treat your piece of jewelry, the longer it will retain its original beauty and the less often you will have to clean it.
However, if your earrings have lost their shine after some time or have become discolored, then I have a few simple tips and tricks for you.
The easiest way is to carefully polish them with a jewelry cleaning cloth or a regular, soft household cloth. This way you can easily clean your studs or the hooks of your earrings from discoloration and sweat.
For larger stains, use a mild, warm soapy solution in addition to the soft cloth.
Please never use sharp substances or rough cleaning cloths on the earrings, as this can lead to unsightly scratches.
Depending on the material and surface, you can also use a little toothpaste instead of the soapy water if the dirt is very stubborn and cannot be removed in any other way. However, you should only use this very rarely as an emergency solution, as toothpaste can also contain ingredients that are harmful to jewelry.
I also think it's important to disinfect the studs or hooks that you put through your earlobe from time to time.
I use a regular disinfectant from the pharmacy. There are also special earring disinfectant solutions, but I think you almost always have a regular disinfectant at home and can therefore be used quickly.
Please remove the ear studs first, as described above, and only when they are clean enough should you take a cotton pad or cotton swab and disinfect the studs or hooks of your earrings. This will prevent your ears from getting red or infected.
Then I wish you lots of fun wearing your stud earrings or dangle earrings.
See you soon!
