Andrea from Yoga Cuisine | when yoga and food come together!

This interview with Andrea Grabner from Yoga Cuisine is part of a series of interviews with women who feel as connected to nature as I do. I speak to different women and their approach to nature and life.

Nutrition is a development process | Have fun in the kitchen, get inspired and dare to try new things.

What job did you learn?

After completing secondary music school, I attended the Federal College of Fashion and Clothing Technology and graduated with a high school diploma.

The first job after school was with a tax consultant.

Have you learned to cook or study nutrition?

I learned to cook from my mom. 😉 She comes from the Czech Republic, so our menu consisted of hearty home cooking.
In 2016, I completed my training as a qualified nutrition coach. I have always enjoyed cooking, but the specialist knowledge came later, as I said.

You develop great recipes using healthy and natural ingredients. How did you get into this?

My eating habits changed as a result of my more intensive yoga practice. After the yoga class, I no longer wanted roast pork and the like, but began to incorporate healthy foods such as pulses and vegetables into my diet. During this time, I tried out many new recipes. This really stimulated my creativity, so I ended up developing my own recipes and sharing them on my blog.

How do you create your recipes - where does the inspiration come from?

I love trying out new recipes, I get my ideas and inspiration from great cooking magazines and books and of course from the many food blogs. I could lose myself in them. But what I almost never manage is to cook a recipe from A to Z according to the instructions. That's why I can say with a clear conscience that there's a little bit of "Andrea" in all of the recipes!

Since the end of 2021, I have become a recipe book author myself. Together with my Dattelbär colleague Betti, I have launched a book on HEALTHY SNACKING. My favorite recipe from the book is the delicious coffee bars .

What does a “normal” day look like for you?

During the week, I usually start the day with porridge at the advertising agency where I work full-time.

I do sport every other day; I need it to balance out my hectic work life. I also try to make room for meditation in my everyday life.
Self-employment and employment can be demanding. ;)
I really enjoy doing both.

Do you enjoy being in nature?

As often as possible! I love ice bathing, hiking, ski touring, climbing, road cycling, and much more.
Ever since I fulfilled my dream of owning my own camper van, I have loved the simple road trip life in the mountains.

Do you also have a special favorite place or place of power - where do you like to be the most?

I have it very close to my home base. I live near Weikerlsee and I found my place of power there in the floodplain area.

Do you have a recipe for us that we can easily recreate even as “inexperienced” people?

I would choose this salad. It is nourishing on all levels and I almost always have the main ingredients at home because they keep for a long time.

Nature, herbs but also sustainability and organic are very much on trend these days - why do you think that is?

Because you want to give the next generation a good life too. Paying attention to the ecological footprint is very important to me.
That's why I avoid plastic as much as possible, use regional food (except for dates 😉) and buy organic to support local farmers.
